User Experience / Research / Prototyping

The core concept of this product is to create a new medium for makers, which is a hybrid of the traditionally physical driven product making process and the contemporary tech driven making process. The product's purpose is to marry these two making approaches by using the fast physical making process to reduce production time while intertwining it with a low-tech machine. This new process would create an interactive ground, engaging the user in the process of making, with the result of a physical output in a very short period of time, Sketch-forming.
The advantages of this product is is also to empower users to "make" and be less intimidated by "making". Unlike 3D printers, laser cutters or CNC mills, this product does not require a software to work with or a procedure for setting up files, making its accessible to everyone is a very simple form.
Contact me if interested in hearing more as the project is still in process.

The project was to make utensils just using hand tools. I wanted to take a minimal approach and let the materials tell the story. I decided to use brass and walnut as my materials, given their complimentary visual appeal. The pattern on the brass plate was hammered and treated with acid, giving the product an organic look.

This was an object done for a class called "Architecture of the Object". The goal was to design and craft an elegant object, mass produce it and sell it. The interesting fact about this class was that our grade depended on how much of it was sold, and our object was sold out in just two hours.
The material we used is a block of cherry. The shape was designed using a 3D modeling software and was carved using CNC.

Inspired by the undulating stratum at the Grand Canyon in Arizona, OT [ One Tribe ] reveals to be much more than its elegant appearance. The different woods symbolize the different people, the different races, and the different religions of the world. Becoming one in essence, these different materials together tell a story of harmony and unity.
The world is one, so are we. May God bless every nation.
The kinds of wood used are basswood, cherry and walnut. The shape was designed using a 3D modeling software and was carved using CNC.

This project was done in my shop orientation class and was mainly more about learning how to use the lathe turning machine although i did think about materially, proportion and aesthetics in the process.
